Keep Chiropractic Care In Mind This Summer

Jun 14, 2016

Yay for summertime!

Increased outdoor activities, working around the home, and expanding our variety of exercises are all part of the enjoyment and fun we look forward to.

Along with all these inspiring summer activities comes the extra strain and pressure on your back and body. Bummer!

We all love to ‘play’ in the summer sun, whether it be beach volleyball, lacrosse, tennis, gardening, or golf. Regardless of your winter activity level, all this new activity may be a bit of a shock to your system.

Using your muscles in a way that you are not used to can cause stress and fatigue on your body, which can promptly lead to all manner of problems and injuries.

Chiropractic can help you recover from these injuries more quickly and can also help to prevent these problems from happening in the first place.

Injuries usually come about when the body is tight, weak, or otherwise not functioning optimally. Fatigue can lead to many problems and injuries.

When our muscles are fatigued they become achy, sore, and inflexible. This can lead to sprain and strain injuries to the ligaments and muscles in the extremities, neck, and back. Fatigue can also leave the body more susceptible to illnesses.

The common cold (or worse) can sneak up on you if the body is not working at its maximum potential to fight infection.

Neck and lower back injuries are very common when performing simple tasks such as yard work, housework, and DIY projects.

Most of these could be avoided with stretching and proper form. There are also a lot of complaints of discomfort attributable to overuse such as bursitis or tendonitis. This pain is from straining the joints too much too often which leads to chronic inflammation of the tendons or bursa that are trying to preserve your joints.

Chiropractic is an art and science based on the premise that good health is contingent, in part, on a normally functioning nervous system from pain or interference from the spine and adjacent structures.

When there is interference in the nervous system due to misalignment or dysfunction of the spine, organs, muscles and tissues may not function properly.

Detection of these problem areas (referred to as “subluxations”) and their correction by chiropractic adjustment will relieve this nerve interference and allow the nervous system and spine to return to a healthy state, getting you back to your summer activity as soon as possible!

Dysfunction or misalignment in the joints following a sprain or strain injury may also be adjusted to relieve pressure in the joint and promote healing. Maintaining good health and correction of these problems is the primary goal of chiropractic care.

Providing information to maintain exercise and proper nutrition are also components of chiropractic care and overall wellness.

Chiropractic is an excellent proactive treatment and can aid the body in its recovery from strain or acute injury by ensuring the body is in proper alignment and from interference.
