How To Manage Stress Effectively

May 22, 2019

In today’s society, stress is nearly unavoidable. We live in a world where we think if we aren’t busy or we aren’t juggling many different things, then we are not being productive. Crazy schedules may sometimes be unavoidable but don’t forget to take some time to re-energize and recharge your batteries!

How? Here’s where to start!

Re-evaluate your list of tasks. Some things in your life may not be able to be rescheduled or pushed back, however there are a few things on that mile long to-do list that can be crossed off or even postponed for a while. Painting the back yard fence or reorganizing the garage might not have to get done all in one weekend.

Cut things out! Evaluate what you really need to get done and minimize those tasks that ultimately don’t need to happen. If it’s something that you feel does need to be done but know you don’t have time, enlist a friend or a neighbor and see if they can help you with the task.

Just say no! It’s so easy this day in age to stay connected to everyone and anyone but with that comes easy access for others to reach you. That friend you haven’t seen in a long time may need help moving but you shouldn’t feel compelled to help if it is going to overwhelm you or cause more to be on your plate. If you can’t make a dinner with a group of friends, don’t feel guilty just say no. It’s easier said than done but your health will thank you in the long run.

How To Manage Stress

Be happy. Find what makes you happy and wrap yourself in it. If kayaking down the river is what fuels your soul, just do it. This life is short and you only have one chance to enjoy it so why not spend it doing the things you love with the people you care most about. Silly tasks and chores although sometimes need to be done, do not need to be the center of your universe.

Stop over thinking! When was the last time you thought about something that could happen or might happen and fixated on this? Probably not long ago. Let go of the worrying and focus on taking one day at a time. If one day at a time is too overwhelming, focus on one hour at a time and see how your life begins to change. Worrying can lead to being overwhelmed and that is not a symptom of happiness. Kick worrying to the curb and start enjoying there here and now moments!

How Stress Affects Health

Stress is an obvious attack on your mental health but have you thought about how it affects your physical well being? Stress leads to many health issues and can heighten anxiety. Stress is attributed to subluxation which is when the spinal vertebrae move out of position and cause pain to nearby nerves. Chiropractors however, are the first line of defense against this problem as they can provide adjustments to the spine and correct this symptom of stress.

Stress is unavoidable entirely, but if you implement some of these changes you may see a shift in the level of stress in which you experience.
