Optimizing Intestinal Health With Chiropractic Care

LinkedInFacebookInstagramXPinterestYoutube

When the large intestine is not working at its highest capacity, other problems such as low back pain, iliotibial band, and thumb pain can occur. Pain, weakness, and spasms can present in the lower back as well as the outer area of the leg and the flank muscles.

IT Band Syndrome for Cyclists

For those who are active cyclists, IT Band Syndrome can occur and cause pain to the outer knee and hip. Although this problem may seem severe, with specific lifestyle changes and identifying the cause of the pain, our Atlanta chiropractic clinic can help find you relief!

If you are a cyclist, it is always suggested to have your bike fitted according to your needs and ensure that it is correctly installed to you to avoid injury. Some bikes may have a seat that is too high, which can cause the outer knee and flank pain to occur.

Identifying A Pattern

How does this relate to the large intestine? If the foods you are fueling your body with are not providing you the right nutritional support, you may find that the large intestine can become dysfunctional.

When the pain is at its worst, log the type of food that you were eating and see if a pattern develops. Are you consuming wheat, corn, or beef before pain occurring? Everyone can flare up from different things, so it is essential to track your food as well as record your pain levels and look for the correlation to help determine the problem areas.

If you become ill, medications such as antibiotics may be prescribed, and as a result of that medication, issues with the intestines may occur. In this event, probiotics are highly suggested to help regulate the body.

These probiotics are most effective when taken at night. Begin by taking six capsules for two weeks and then reduce your intake by half for an additional two weeks. Aside from the probiotics, fuel your body with green leafy vegetables and iron-rich foods to allow more oxygen into the blood, which will increase stamina and help prevent heart disease.

Increasing fiber intake will optimize the colon, allowing it to function at its highest capabilities. Adding wheat products and increasing your vegetable intake will help to decrease bloating and reduce inflammation.

Yesterday was my last day at AICA College Park since my accident in December, there is so much to say about the people who work here and the level of customer service, care, attention, friendliness, and overall amazing atmosphere that they provide. Location is perfect in College Park, right off the highway and in a small plaza with plenty of parking. The entire staff, from the front desk girls, to the physical therapy girls, to the chiros, and the medical team are AMAZING! I feel like I just lost my friends not being able to visit them twice a week every week. I will definitely miss coming here. All the smiles and warm welcomes received. The physical therapy - asking about my day, if everything is okay and helping my back and neck get better. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Hector as my chiropractor, he is awesome, was very helpful in the healing process and also a native Spanish speaker which is a plus for those of us who do speak Spanish. Before coming to AICA, I tried another injury clinic in ATL and walked out after 5 mins - so impersonal and cold. I am so glad that I found AICA in College Park. Trust me, if you are injured and need some healing and TLC you NEED to come to this clinic! Highly recommend to everyone. Thank you again to the guys and girls at AICA - xo Ms. Colon
