How To Prevent Injuring Your Back When Dancing

LinkedInFacebookInstagramXPinterestYoutube

People choose to dance for many reasons, including health and recreation.

This activity is a fun way to become more physically active, but the moves can sometimes put dancers at risk of injury.

Low Back Pain in Dancers

Fortunately, by adhering to the following recommendations offered by our Atlanta Chiropractors, you can prevent injuring your back when dancing the night away in Atlanta.

Get Proper Instructions In Order To Avoid Hurting Your Back

Dance instructors are crucial in the prevention of injuries.

Teachers should establish a classroom environment where their students aren’t afraid to say they need a break or speak up if they are injured.

Students should be taught the correct dance techniques that will minimize injury risk while also being shown how to use equipment properly.

Students should also be trained on the importance of proper warm-up and cool-down sessions.

Drink Enough Water To Flush Out The Toxins

Proper hydration is essential for any physical activity, including dancing. Without water, your muscles will not stay lubricated to perform the moves that you attempt. You may also feel faint if you don’t get enough water, and this could lead to falls and related injuries.

It is important to drink plenty of water during your workout, before you start, and after you finish your session.

Choose the Right Dance Style To Avoid Back Pain

If you are a dance beginner, it is important to choose a style of dance that is appropriate for you before you begin your training.

This means you’ll need to need to have a basic awareness of your body, boundaries, and personal limits. For example, if you have arthritis, a high impact style of dance that involves dynamic movements and jumping might not be the best exercise routine for you.

Wear Shoes That Are Able To Absorb The Impact of Dancing

It is also important to ensure that you are dressed appropriately before dancing so that you can avoid injury. Wear layers so that you can remove clothing as your body begins to warm.

Choose shoes that are professionally fitted and appropriate to your dance style. Dance shoes that fit properly should support your foot while absorbing impact and distributing the load.

Yesterday was my last day at AICA College Park since my accident in December, there is so much to say about the people who work here and the level of customer service, care, attention, friendliness, and overall amazing atmosphere that they provide. Location is perfect in College Park, right off the highway and in a small plaza with plenty of parking. The entire staff, from the front desk girls, to the physical therapy girls, to the chiros, and the medical team are AMAZING! I feel like I just lost my friends not being able to visit them twice a week every week. I will definitely miss coming here. All the smiles and warm welcomes received. The physical therapy - asking about my day, if everything is okay and helping my back and neck get better. I had the pleasure of having Dr. Hector as my chiropractor, he is awesome, was very helpful in the healing process and also a native Spanish speaker which is a plus for those of us who do speak Spanish. Before coming to AICA, I tried another injury clinic in ATL and walked out after 5 mins - so impersonal and cold. I am so glad that I found AICA in College Park. Trust me, if you are injured and need some healing and TLC you NEED to come to this clinic! Highly recommend to everyone. Thank you again to the guys and girls at AICA - xo Ms. Colon
